In 2008, hurricanes devastated the southern coast of
Haiti. As the greatest need in the fall of that year was hurricane relief,
C.A.S.S. chose to send funds to purchase food and cooking oil for 50 families
associated with the PAZAPA children's centre in Jacmel Haiti. It was recognized
that many of the families with disabled children at the centre were experiencing
tremendous loss as a result of three significant storms in a matter of
only a few weeks. Families lost crops, livestock, homes and some, most
tragically, lost family members. Rice, cornmeal and oil were purchased
with C.A.S.S. funds and delivered to the centre, and distributed to families
of greatest need.
